Not since Prince Charles of Wales told then-mistress Camilla Parker-Bowles of his desire to be her feminine hygiene product has an adulterous celebrity been so humiliated by a telephone communiqué. We’re talking about Tiger Woods here, and the voice mail message he left to an alleged mistress, released earlier this week by Us Weekly. In review:
“Hey, it’s, uh, it’s Tiger. I need you to do me a huge favor. Um, can you please, uh, take your name off your phone. My wife went through my phone. And, uh, may be calling you. If you can, please take your name off that and, um, and what do you call it just have it as a number on the voice mail, just have it as your telephone number. That’s it, OK. You gotta do this for me. Huge. Quickly. All right. Bye.”

A new Crimestoppers-style hotline is being set up to snare sporting drug cheats.
The anonymous tip-off service will be available to anyone who suspects a sports star of using drugs.
Sports minister Gerry Sutcliffe announced the new hotline at the launch of UK Anti-Doping yesterday.
The hotline is aimed at catching drug cheats in the run-up to the 2012 London Olympics.
But it will also target footballers, cricketers and other sports stars using performance enhancing drugs.
If a caller has proof of illegal substances being used or supplied to others, police will be called in.
New government agency UKAD will be officially launched on December 14 and the hotline will go live in the new year.
It will take on the existing testing and education responsibilities currently delivered by UK Sport,
Mr Sutcliffe said: “This is the latest step in our war on drug cheats. Fans need to be confident that all athletes are clean.”
UKAD officials will work closely with the Serious and Organized Crime Agency to catch suppliers of performance enhancing drugs.
David Kenworthy, ex-chief constable for North Yorkshire Police, has been brought in as UKAD chairman.
He said: “We aim to deliver a clean sporting environment in the run-up to 2012 and beyond.
“This new hotline is like ‘Crimestoppers’ but there is no reward. The idea is for people to give us information.
“I want UKAD to be a world leader in anti-doping. I want people beating a path to our door.”
