Taylor Swift was on ‘The View’ Tuesday morning to discuss her onstage clash with Kanye West at the VMAs that has everyone from Kelly Clarkson to President Obama talking.
“I think my overall thought process was something like, ‘Wow I can’t believe I won. This is awesome. Don’t trip and fall. I’m going to get to thank the fans, this is so cool–oh, Kanye West is here,” she said. “Kanye West is here, cool haircut, what are you doing there? And then ouch, and then I guess I’m not going to get to thank the fans.”
Then Kanye got into an altercation with Taylor’s mom, who “tore into him” backstage.
Kanye told Jay Leno last night that he wanted to apologize to Taylor in person and she she said would meet with him, but “he has not personally reached to out or anything.”
Though Kanye’s outburst left her “rattled,” Swift said the outpouring of support from fans has helped. “I never imagined that there were that many people looking out for me,” she said. “It was really wonderful to see there were people out there defending me so I didn’t have to.”

KanYe West calls Taylor Swift after `View’ appearance
Well, that was fast: Mere hours after Taylor Swift told the hosts of The View that Kanye West hadn’t yet reached out to offer a personal apology for his behavior at Sunday night’s MTV Video Music Awards, reports are indicating that the rapper has now done just that. A rep for The View tells EW that West called Swift to apologize before her interview was even done airing this morning. “During Taylor Swift’s appearance today on ABC’s The View Kanye West phoned the ABC/The View studio,” the rep’s statement says. “After the show he spoke personally to the country music superstar via telephone and has apologized to the 19 year-old singer. She has accepted Mr. West’s apology. The contents of the phone call are to remain private.”
This is now the fourth time West has apologized for his conduct at the VMAs — but hey, who’s counting, right? Do you think this is an adequate resolution to this never-ending controversy, or do you still want more?
